Follow a topic

Before you begin
How Radar works
Once a topic is on Radar, Bilby checks it daily or weekly for anything published since the last check. Most checks find nothing, and Bilby doesn't bother you about those. When a check finds something that changes the picture, Bilby writes an update into the same chat and emails it to you.
Step 1: Ask Bilby to follow it
In the chat, say it the way you'd say it to a colleague: "Track this for me", "Monitor the final rules" or "Keep me posted". Add what you care about and how often, if you know.
Track Malaysia's cross-border data transfer guidelines. Tell me when the final version is out or the deadline moves. Weekly is enough.
Step 2: Check what Bilby set up
Bilby puts the topic on Radar straight away and shows a card with what it will watch for, how often it checks and when the topic ends.
Malaysia's cross-border data transfer guidelines
The final guidelines, and any change to the compliance deadline or to which transfers they cover
Change anything by asking, like “check daily”.
2| On the card | What it means |
|---|---|
| Checks | How often Bilby checks and at what time, with the reason it chose that pace |
| Tells you | When something changes, or Once, when it happens for a single event you named |
| Sends to | Bilby and your email address, or Bilby only if you've turned Radar emails off |
| Ends | 90 days from now. Bilby asks before then whether to keep it |
| Score | Only on a scored topic. See Radar scores |
Not what you meant? Press Undo and the topic comes off Radar. To change something, press Edit, or just ask: "check it daily instead".
Step 3: Read the updates
When a check finds something, the update appears in the same chat under Radar update · since the date of the last check, with its sources. The same update arrives by email, and a dot marks it as unread. Radar in the sidebar counts unread updates for the organization you're in.
Under each update, Worth sending? asks whether it was. Answer Yes or No, and Bilby uses your answer in future checks.
Step 4: Keep it, or let it end
A topic ends after 90 days unless you keep it. Bilby emails you a week before, and one click keeps it for another 90 days. A prediction is different: it ends on the date it names, and on that date Bilby tells you whether it came true.
Other ways to put a topic on Radar
- Bilby offers. When an answer is about something still moving, it can end with "This is still moving." and a button such as Add to Radar · Weekly. Not now turns it down.
- The chat's menu. Press Chat options (⋯) at the top right of the chat and choose Add to Radar… to fill in the topic yourself: its name, what to watch for, how often and when.
- From Intelligence. Monitor this on a briefing or document, or Let me know if this comes true on a prediction. See the Asia Daily Take.
- From your recent chats. On the Radar page, Find topics in my chats asks Bilby to follow the chats it thinks are worth following.
- A web page. Paste a link and ask Bilby to watch the page for changes.
Note
Radar checks count toward your usage. If your usage runs out, Radar pauses until it resets and Bilby emails you once. See What Radar emails you.
Tip
Bilby may also suggest up to three topics of its own from your recent chats about things still unfolding. They appear under Suggested by Bilby on the Radar page. Press Keep to make one yours, or Stop.
