Before you begin
Where to change a topic
You can change a topic in three places:
- The Radar page. Choose Radar in the sidebar, then ⋯ at the end of the topic's row.
- The chat. Press On Radar at the top of the topic's chat.
- In words. Ask in the topic's chat: "check it daily", "only tell me about the final text" or "stop tracking this". Bilby changes only what you asked for.
Step 1: Open the topic's menu
Choose Radar in the sidebar. The page lists your topics in the organization you're in, each with its score, how often it's checked, its latest news and the next check. Press ⋯ at the end of the topic's row.
Step 2: Change the schedule
Choose Radar schedule…. The form has everything Bilby set up when it added the topic:
| Field | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Name | The topic's name, on the Radar page and in emails |
| What to watch for | What counts as news, such as "the final policy document, and any change to its scope" |
| How often | Daily or Weekly |
| Day | For a weekly topic, the day it's checked |
| Time | The hour of the check, in your time zone |
| Tell me | When something changes, or Once, when it happens |
| Tell me when nothing changes | Also tell you after checks that found nothing |
| Score each check | Score the topic at each check. See Radar scores |
Press Save. The topic's next check follows the new schedule.
Step 3: Check now, or pause
- Check now runs a check straight away, so you don't wait for the next one. Any update appears in the chat.
- Pause stops the checks until you press Resume. Nothing is checked in between.
- Tell me when nothing changes also emails you after checks that found nothing. Only tell me when something changes turns that off again.
Step 4: Keep it past 90 days
A topic ends 90 days after you add it. Two weeks before the end, its row shows the end date and Keep 90 more days. A week before, Radar emails you with the same offer. Keeping a topic adds 90 days to its end date.
A topic Bilby suggested has Keep on its card instead. Keeping it makes it one of your own topics.
Step 5: Stop it
Choose Stop. Bilby asks "Take this topic off Radar?" Press Stop again to confirm.
Bilby stops checking. The updates it already sent stay in the chat, and you can put the topic back on Radar later. You can also stop a topic from any of its emails with Stop this topic.
Note
Changing a score's scale starts its history again, because the old scores no longer compare.
Tip
To move every topic to one hour, open Settings › Radar and set Send updates at. Each topic is then checked at that hour in your Time zone, so updates are waiting when you start work. After that, you can still give one topic its own Time from its schedule.
Try it in Bilby
Open your Radar and press ⋯ on the topic you want to change.
You'll need to be signed in. It opens in a new tab, so this guide stays here.
