Before you begin

Bilby has made something in a chat, such as a brief. See Make a brief.
Optional: before you publish a link, read the brief through. Anyone who has the link can read it.

Nothing in Bilby is public until you publish it, and only a brief or another artifact can be published. A chat can't.

Step 1: Open the brief

In the chat, press Open on the brief's card. It opens in the Artifacts panel beside the chat.

Step 2: Download it

Press Export at the top of the panel and choose:

  • Export as PDF, for a brief or a web page, laid out to print or attach.
  • Download, for the file as it is.

Press Publish, then Publish to web. Bilby makes a public link and copies it for you, and says "Published. Link copied to the clipboard." Paste the link into an email or a message.

The Publish menu once a brief is published. Numbers match the steps on this page.

Step 4: Know what the reader sees

Someone who opens the link sees the brief on its own page, with how many times it's been viewed. They don't need an account. The page says "A Bilby user made this content." It has Copy link, and Chat with this, which opens Bilby with the brief ready to ask about, after they sign in or sign up.

To send the link again later, open Publish and press Copy link.

Step 5: Publish your changes

The link shows the brief as it was when you published. If you edit the brief afterwards, the button reads Publish again and the menu offers Publish changes. Until you press it, readers still see the earlier version.

Open Publish and choose Unpublish. Bilby asks you to confirm, because the link stops working for everyone who has it. If you publish again later, the brief gets a new link.

Charts, diagrams and chats

  • A chart. ⋯ on the chart, then Download PNG or Copy PNG. In table view, Download CSV saves the numbers. See Charts and timelines.
  • A diagram. Export in the Diagrams panel saves it as SVG, PNG or PDF.
  • A whole chat. Chat options (⋯) at the top of the chat lists Download PDF, Download Markdown and Copy transcript under Export transcript. The transcript has your questions and Bilby's answers, with their sources, but not Bilby's working steps.

Note

Email me sends only to your own verified email address, with the files you asked for attached. To send something to a colleague, download it or publish a link.

Try it in Bilby

Ask for a brief you can share. We've typed it in for you.

When the brief is ready, press Open on its card, then Publish.
